September 2010

End of an Era.

After more than 30 years Don is leaving the Actor’s Agency. It has been a wonderful friendship and working partnership but due to changes in the industry, personal health issues and the passing of Lorraine West, Naomi West has decided to close the agency. It is a sad day for all of us, but I have now signed with Melissa Rose Management.

Effective immediately all future work offers for Don can be made via Melissa Rose at: melissa@melissarosemanagement.com.au

Ballad of Des and Mo

Don Recently appeared in a film that was completely shot and edited in just 72 hours. Done as part of the Melbourne International Film Festival and shown on the final night, it was a fascinating experience to do in 3 days, what normally takes between 3 and 10 months. From casting to final screening was 7days and 6 hours. Don was privileged to work with director James fair, Producer gary Hoctor and actors Mick Cahill and Kate O’Toole.

Photo shows Don with Irish actress Kate O’Toole.

Fairfax Festival

Don is again involved with the Fairfax Festival as a tutor and motivator in the festival which runs in Swan Hill early in October. has already visited all the participating schools in Victoria and NSW, with many situated along the Murray River area. On the final night of the festival each group will present a 10 minute theatre piece that they have devised and created.

Anyone Can Whistle
Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Book by Arthur Laurents

MONDAY OCTOBER 4th 8:00pm
The Melbourne Recital Centre

Directed by: Aaron Joyner
Musical Direction by: Laura Tipoki
Sondheim’s wickedly funny, cheekily disrespectful and outright blasphemous musical comedy is one of the funniest Broadway musicals ever written. absurdist story of fake miracles, corrupt politicians, escaped lunatics, psychotherapy and even romance, ANYONE CAN WHISTLE was way ahead of its time in 1964 where it played for only nine performances on Broadway. With its well-aimed pot shots at everything America holds dear, modern audiences across the world have found new joys in its refreshing honesty and timeless relevance...
