Three
Seconds
A short 1st year VCA
film by Neil Triffett was shot in the VCA studio over the course
of a day. A two hander for two men, Don was joined by Australian
legend, Bud Tingwell for this delightfully absurd tale of the
struggle for the bottom bunk. The film has been edited and looks
terrific, Bud as usual giving a wonderful performance.
Arts
Centre:
Don has been
directing a production of "1000 Cranes" for
Mentone Grammar School. It plays on June 19th and 20th at the
school theatre. A challenging piece for years 7 to 8 with music
and percussion all live and played by the students.
Prostitute
Who Am I?:
Don is working
with director Catherine Simmonds of Project Respect on a project
to tell the stories of trafficked women in the prostitution industry.
A residential weekend in the bush with 8 actors and 6 women who
have spent time in the sex industry as well as 8 traficked women
from Thailand whose stories were simply astounding. Shocking,
heartwrenching and inspiring stories that will go to make powerful
and deeply affecting theatre. There were 2 musicians, a writer,
a documentary film crew and various other people in attendance
and the sadness and joy that came in equal parts over the weekend
was quite profound.
There will
be a rehearsed reading of the work on July 10th, 11th and 12th
at the Fitzroy Reading Room.
Singing
Duo:
He continues
to sing and play guitar in a duo with kathy Lucas and they play
gigs on weekends.
